PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Someone with narcissistic personality disorder exhibits personality traits like a sense of entitlement, a feeling of self-importance, and preoccupation with themselves.
An individual with narcissistic personality disorder has very little insight into themselves and little or no empathy for others.
The majority of narcissists are male. Early life experiences, including being rejected as a child and parental domination, can have a lifelong effect.
And, there may be a long-lasting impact on the narcissist. Those with this personality have poor interpersonal relationships and are always in conflict. The added stress makes them more vulnerable to heart disease, obesity, diabetes and suicide.
