PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Most childhood illnesses come and go, but some can be persistent. The most common chronic disease of childhood is allergic rhinitis.
This time of year it is grass and pollen, but there is usually some allergen like common house dust or mold that causes the immune system to fight what the body sees as a threat. Ironically, it's the body's defense that causes annoying symptoms like watery, itchy eyes, as well as sneezing and congestion.
