PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are looking for a man they say stole a gun after a shooting broke out inside a North Philly corner store Friday night.

Authorities say around 9 p.m. Friday, two police officers were on a routine patrol when they entered a corner store in Fairhill and approached a group of men inside. They then engaged with a person, identified as 28-year-old Alexander Spencer, and a "scuffle" broke out.

Spencer then fired at one of the officers, striking him in the leg. The officer’s partner then fired back.

Both Spencer and the officer were transported to Temple University Hospital, where Spencer died. The officer is listed in stable condition.

Police say at some point during the incident, Spencer's gun hit the floor and someone grabbed it then ran out.

Police say that person was last seen along Mascher Street wearing ripped jeans, a red hoodie, black and red baseball hat, and black sneakers. He is considered armed and dangerous.
