PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have charged 30-year-old Tyree Blake with indecent assault following two recent incidents.
The first was inside a Wawa at 33rd and Market streets at the end of July. The other was just about a week later at 19th and Market streets. In that more recent incident, Blake allegedly groped a woman as she walked up the stairs from a SEPTA station.
Surveillance cameras captured images of a man, later identified as Blake, wearing a tan NASA sweatshirt.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office says Blake had a prior arrest for a misdemeanor. They say that case was handled by a mental health court, which provides alternative courtroom procedures for non-violent felony offenders with mental illness.
For Blake's arrest, the Philadelphia Police Department credits the help of a relative of the defendant and members of the public who called in with tips.
