PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An inmate at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia was killed overnight.

Philadelphia police said a 28-year-old man was assaulted around 12:15 a.m. Investigators did not find a weapon, but they did make an arrest.

Philadelphia’s prisons have been under scrutiny in recent months. In November 2023, after several high-profile prisoner escapes, the prison commissioner admitted that the city’s prisons were understaffed and facing challenges.
