PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Millions of Americans enjoy coffee in the morning, but is it bad to drink at night?
Certain people are more sensitive to caffeine than others. It can take two to 10 hours to metabolize caffeine, and how you metabolize it can largely depend on two so-called coffee genes — the scientific name, CYP1A2.
However, not everyone has these genes, which could explain why some people sleep well after coffee and others don't.
If you choose decaf coffee, remember that decaf still has small amounts of caffeine.
For many, a late-night cup of coffee comes down to trial and error.
