PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you heard an unfamiliar screeching of jet engines or saw red, white and green streaks across the bright blue sky high above the city on Monday morning, you may rest assured it was not your imagination, and you did not witness a hostile invasion.
It was just the Italian Air Force Frecce Tricolori, flexing their muscles with a flyover above Philadelphia. They were promoting the final performance of their 2024 North American Tour, coming up two weeks from now, at the Air Dot Show in Ocean City, Maryland.
Monday’s flyover featured 11 jets in formation, trailing red, white and green smoke.

The route began in Yardley, Bucks County, around 10:30 a.m. The jets streaked across Northeast Philadelphia to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, where they turned westward to fly over the Philadelphia Museum of Art Museum, then north to East Falls, and finally northeast back over Jenkintown and Huntingdon Valley in Montgomery County before heading back to base.
They will join the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team to headline the air show in Ocean City on Aug. 24 and 25. Tickets and more information are available online at ocairshow.com.
