PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A new fighter will soon join the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps.
The Philadelphia Art Commission gave unanimous final approval on Wednesday to move the statue of boxing legend Joe Frazier to the base of the steps. The statue currently stands outside Stateside Live at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.
The Frazier statue will be moved sometime this spring.
The Rocky statue, which is currently at the bottom of the steps, will ascend to the top.
A replica Rocky statue has stood at the top of the steps since 2024. It is on loan from Sylvester Stallone himself. That replica will be returned to the actor after the museum ends its upcoming Rocky exhibition, which opens on April 25.
