NEW CASTLE, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — A Brandywine School District emotional support therapist has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of a child.

New Castle police say, in July, they were informed of a sexual assault against a child on the 2200 block of Thomas Road in the Fairfax community.

Detectives then learned a 5-year-old reported that 47-year-old John Arnold had inappropriate sexual contact with her on multiple occasions.

Arnold was taken into custody on Thursday. He faces several counts of rape.

Police say no evidence indicates that any students from the Brandywine School District were victims.
