PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Longtime Philadelphia broadcaster and traffic reporter John Brown III died earlier this week. He was 74.
Brown graduated from Bensalem High School in Bucks County before entering a career in broadcasting, spanning four decades, including nearly 10 here at KYW Newsradio.
He was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia and received accolades from the March of Dimes and a Variety Club Lifetime Achievement award.
After retiring in 2013, Brown and his wife, Donna, wrote a memoir, "Why Not? Conquering the Road Less Traveled," chronicling his struggles with cerebral palsy and triumphs through their partnership.
Brown's death came just a few weeks after his wife's death.
