PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police have arrested two more people in connection with September’s dangerous car meetups.

Joseph Cavanaugh, 21, of Levittown, and James Hare, 20, of Northeast Philadelphia were arrested Friday.

They both face charges of aggravated assault, RIOT, criminal conspiracy, causing and risking catastrophe, fleeing police and related offenses.

Authorities say the two were involved in the chaos that rang out the night of Sept. 21 and lasted into the morning of Sept. 22. Officials say 50 to more than 200 vehicles had gathered to watch or participate in illegal street racing, drifting, and other reckless activities, like setting off fireworks, starting trash fires and vandalizing police cars and city property.

About a half dozen people have been arrested so far.

City officials vowed to capture all of the people responsible.
