LEHIGH COUNTY, PA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have charged a man with killing and dismembering his housemate, then leaving his body parts in three separate locations in Lehigh County.
The investigation started Monday when friends told police they hadn't seen 37-year-old David Hittinger in two days.
Investigators got a search warrant for the Slatington house where 33-year-old Joshua Moser had recently let Hittinger move into.
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan says in the basement, investigators found blood and hair, a saw and box cutter, and “what appeared to be efforts to conceal the blood in the basement."
At a news conference Friday, Holihan said authorities later discovered body parts belonging to Hittinger at the Fairview Cemetery.
"They were wrapped up. They were disposed of, wrapped in plastic garbage bags, and then discarded in that manner."
Remains were also found along a trail in Slatington and at a quarry in neighboring Washington Township.
Holihan says Moser was held in Monroe County Wednesday on unrelated charges. He's now being held without bail on charges of homicide and abuse of corpse.
Holihan wouldn't comment on a possible motive for the crime but says, so far, there's no evidence anyone else was involved. The investigation is ongoing.
