PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police said at least six of the young people who randomly attacked a woman in Center City last month are now in custody as of Thursday night. At least four of the juveniles turned themselves in.

Police said the arrests comprise three girls, ages 12, 13 and 14, and three boys, ages 11, 13 and 14. Police had identified seven of the eight juveniles involved in the incident. They are charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, robbery, receiving stolen property and related offenses.

It is not clear if police know the identities of the two remaining suspects.

As the investigation moves forward, the victim, a 34-year-old woman, is still recovering from serious injuries she sustained in the unprovoked attack.

It happened around 7 p.m. on Feb. 23. In an off-camera conversation with NBC10, the woman said she was walking to a hair salon near 15th and Chestnut streets when the group knocked her down from behind and continued to hit her.

She said no one tried to help her, and she was knocked unconscious. She ended up in the hospital with several injuries, including a fracture in her face.

The attackers got away, some of them on their bikes.

Police released surveillance video of the attack. Since then, investigators have been able to identify all but one of the suspects.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office approved charges for the juveniles.
