PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Kelly Drive in Philadelphia officially reopened to traffic at 1 p.m. Thursday. Crews worked all morning to remove mud and debris left behind by flooding earlier this week.

Tuesday night’s storm created severe flooding on many important roads across the region.

The Schuylkill River has returned below flood stage after peaking at 12.13 feet on Wednesday, just shy of the moderate flood stage level of 13 feet.

This section of Kelly Drive — between the Falls Bridge and Hunting Park Avenue — was closed all day Wednesday due to severe flooding and all morning Thursday.

This is the third time in less than a month that this stretch of the busy road had to be closed because of flooding and cleanup.
