PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Coronavirus mutates quite easily, so how can we keep immunizations on pace to fight the virus?

The emergence of the so-called Brazilian strain, South African strain and U.K. strain is just the beginning.

Scientists would rather use numbers like B.1.1.7 than the country of origin to reduce stigma, but whatever you call the variants, they will keep coming.

Viruses mutate to stay alive, which is why we need to continue to study the virus and build vaccines when necessary to fight them.

Here is the good news: once vaccinated, your body will fight COVID-19 and provide protection, but we will probably need booster shots for a while to help our immune systems change with the virus.

We are in a lengthy battle, but even with mutations, things will get better.
