KYW Medical Report: Getting back into healthier habits

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It’s safe to say many of us probably took in a few extra calories during the holidays.

That is not necessarily a bad thing, because celebration and relaxation with family and friends can be great for our mental and physical well-being.

But with the season officially winding down, the start of the new year is a great time to take a look at making important differences in diet and exercise.

Perhaps you have made New Year’s resolutions to get back into healthier habits. This is the perfect time.

You do not have to do anything dramatic — just take the approach that you are going to start making a difference little by little.

Skip dessert or cut down on portion size. Try to start exercising again.

It doesn’t take much, but the key is to start — make some changes. There is no time better than the present.
