PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As the weather improves, a growing number of children are asking their parents if it is safe to play outside. Each case is individual.
Here's the good news: Kids are less likely to get sick from COVID-19, according to some of the latest reports.
They also are less likely to spread COVID-19 at that age. By the time children become adolescents, the risk of spreading the virus is the same as in an adult.
As for playing sports or getting involved in outdoor activities, the CDC said the risk of acquiring COVID-19 through recreational sports depends on the type of activity. Lower-risk activities include skill-building drills, performed alone or with members of your household.
The risk increases with team practices and regional or national competitions. It is truly something to think about and evaluate on a case-by-case basis.
