PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As the number of vaccinated people increases, many think the battle against COVID-19 is over.
Not so fast.
As the month of March comes to an end, we can look back and be proud of the national vaccine effort. But for all of the progress, there are new concerns. One of the biggest is fully comprehending what being vaccinated means.
If you are vaccinated, it clearly should be a time of excitement. It means that you have a dramatically reduced chance of getting the virus and a minute chance of hospitalization and critical care. But you still need to worry — mostly about those not yet vaccinated.
People who have not been vaccinated have no additional protection, which is why social distancing and mask-wearing are more important than ever. Those at the highest risk have been vaccinated first, but with the vaccine comes an obligation to help others.
