PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A cancer diagnosis can be shocking for anyone.
Once the person with the diagnosis has time to adjust, they should make time to answer many important questions: where to be treated, how aggressive the treatment needs to be, the family and personal impact, and management of anxiety and depression.
One issue that often falls to the bottom of the list is how to pay for the care. Social workers suggest when you are healthy and when cancer is not even on your radar, it is worthwhile to look at your insurance benefits.
There are many plans that provide great protection, but many people don't take the time to understand what they have — or what they don't.
If you have Medicaid or Medicare, it is especially important to look at your benefits now.
