PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Lancaster man will spend up to 105 years behind bars for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl from Indiana last December.
Andrew Howland was sentenced last week to 35 to 105 years in prison. Authorities say the 39-year-old connected with the young teen online, and after months of communication, he drove across several states to pick her up in the middle of the night.
He brought the girl back to Lancaster County and spent time in two hotels. Police tracked Howland’s cellphone location data, and they arrested him at a Comfort Inn in West Hempfield Township.
Howland was found guilty in August. Lancaster County Judge Donald Totaro called him “one of the most dangerous types of offenders.”
“The transcript will not portray how evil the defendant really is,” the judge added.
If he is ever released from prison, Howland will be supervised by state parole and registered as a sex offender for life.
