PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A West Philly nonprofit is taking its services on the road, launching a new mobile unit to help families in need.

As families struggle to make ends meet, Vonee Hill, founder of Linked Family Services on Lancaster Avenue near 43rd Street, said she hopes the organization’s new mobile unit will help her connect to parents and children who need support across the city.

“Our mission at Linked Family Services is very simple. We want to provide children and their families with a safe space to feel supported,” she said.

“Our mobile unit launched for families that want to access our services but have a transportation barrier.”

That allows the organization to deliver door to door on its promise by dropping off essential items to families.

“On a regular basis, we do have families that come to our location,” said Hill. “They meet with our care coordinators and receiver services in person, but we were hearing from families across the city who couldn’t reach us. So we decided to say, ‘Hey, how could we reach those families?’”

Hill said that as prices on everyday items skyrocket, her team delivers must-have products, so parents can focus on caring for their children and not worrying about how to afford essentials.

“Our mobile unit provides our tiny essentials relief bundles. Inside families get diapers, wipes, formula and hygiene items delivered to their homes,” she said. “School supplies, backpacks.”

Hill welcomes donations to keep Linked’s wheels turning for the community. More information is at the organization’s website.
