PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Dr. Paul Offit is the director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and is a member of the FDA Advisory Panel that has made recommendations about COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.

During part one of "The Long Haul: Learning to Live in a Lasting Pandemic" presented by Independence Blue Cross, Dr. Offit breaks down the challenges of protecting the youngest Americans against COVID-19, the future of booster shots and COVID-19 treatments, and why this virus is still dangerous long after vaccines were made available to everyone.

One of the reasons he shared involves the variants that have already come including the delta variant, and what may be on the way.

“We’ve seen three variants in the last year and a half," Dr. Offit shared.

"So I think it’s likely we’ll see another."
