PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The coronavirus pandemic has winter resorts limiting the number of ski lift tickets sold every day. Spring Mountain in Spring Mount, Bear Creek in Macungie and Blue Mountain in Palmerton sell out frequently.
Ashley Seier, marketing director of Blue Mountain says the resort is limiting capacity to 60%, and visitors must buy a pass online -- if they can get one.
"It's actually been a trend throughout the whole season," Seier said. "We've had many sell-out days. We're almost always a sell-out on the weekend, and we're starting to see it mid-week, as well. I think it's a combination of people working from home and having more flexible schedules and overall demand to get outside."

She says limiting the number of lift tickets has forced them to charge a little bit more ticket to compensate for that loss of revenue. However, she says, people appear to enjoy some of the pandemic-related changes.
"I think it's given people an overall better experience. I mean, our lift lines are much shorter, just in general, going to the eateries and all that. And parking is more convenient," she said.
She says the outdoors segment of the business is making money, but indoor spaces such as restaurants and bars are struggling under the COVID-19 capacity limits.
