PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Lower Merion School District superintendent is stepping down.
Dr. Frank Ranelli said the “position is just not a good match for me.” His announcement went on to praise the staff and students in the district and wished “the entire school community all the best.”
Ranelli was hired in January 2025. His last day will be April 30.
Ranelli will be the fourth superintendent to leave the district in five years. He leaves amid controversy surrounding technology in the classroom. Some parents have sued because they want the right to opt their kids out of using tablets or laptops.
The school board will begin discussing the search for a replacement at its October meeting.
The board’s statement said there will be “meaningful opportunities for students, families, staff and community members to share their priorities for our next superintendent.”
