Man arrested for stabbing someone in the face during an argument at Dilworth Park, say police

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a man in response to a stabbing at Dilworth Park on Monday.

Azariah Ellerba, 34, alias Corbin Ellerbe, is charged with simple and aggravated assault, possessing instruments of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

According to police, officers responding to a report of a stabbing around 4 p.m. Monday found a 25-year-old victim and the suspect on the scene. According to the victim, Ellerba pulled a knife and stabbed him once in the face during an argument at the stairwell leading to SEPTA's 15th Street Station.

Police say they took Ellerba him into custody without incident.

The victim is in stable condition at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing with Central Detectives.

The stabbing is the second violent incident to occur at Dilworth Park in December.

On Dec. 13th, three teens were injured in a shooting near the ice rink outside City Hall.
