PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is in custody after an armed carjacking led to a police chase through Frankford Friday night.

It all started around 6:30 p.m., when the man carjacked a woman near Race and Robinson streets in West Philadelphia. Police were able to use the OnStar system in the car to track it near Frankford and Adams Avenues in the Northeast.

There, police said the suspect led officers on a car chase before he bailed out of the vehicle and ran. He then doubled back, evaded officers and stole a police cruiser.

Officials said he drove the cruiser for about 2 miles and was eventually caught on Arrott Street, just off Adams Avenue, where he attempted to hide in the driveway of a home.

Police have not released the suspect's name at this time. The woman he carjacked was not hurt.
