PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 21-year-old man has been charged with beating and killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter last week in South Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's office said Sean Hernandez (also known as Raafi Gorham) was arrested and charged Wednesday with the murder of 2-year-old Key’Monnie Bean, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, and obstruction of justice.

Officials said on Dec. 8, the girl was found unresponsive on the basement floor of a home in the 2100 block of South Beechwood Street near Snyder Avenue. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

"She was severely beaten and suffered severe and significant physical injuries all over her body, and that ultimately caused her death. Initially, when this happened to her, there were four people in the house; ultimately, three of them have been charged,” said Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski.

In addition to Hernandez being charged with murder and related offenses, 20-year-old Alycia McNeil and 21-year-old Anthony Lowrie were charged with making false statements and obstruction of justice. Lowrie was also charged with providing false identification to authorities.
