PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 41-year-old Warrington man is charged with attempted murder after authorities said he shot at another driver during a road rage incident in Newtown Monday night.
Around 6 p.m., the victim told police that she was heading east on the Newtown Bypass near the Summit Square Shopping Center when she and several other cars moved into the left lane to pass a blue Honda Civic.
She noticed a flash come from the Honda Civic and realized her passenger-side window had a hole in it, officials said. She slowed down to get behind the Honda Civic and called 911 while following it for about a mile.
The woman said she followed the car as it turned right onto Woodbourne Road, across from the Newtown Athletic Club, and then another right on Swift Road, into a neighborhood.
She said that’s when the driver — later identified as 41-year-old Christopher Corbi — slammed on his brakes, got out of his car, and walked toward her while firing multiple shots through her windshield.
The woman was treated for a cut on her wrist. She told police she believed she was injured from the initial gunshot.
About half an hour later, police saw the Honda Civic pull into a parking lot in Lower Makefield, and they arrested Corbi without incident. Police recovered the gun and ammunition in trash cans in Newtown.
Corbi is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
