PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man has been charged with violently beating a pregnant woman in Montgomery County last week, which was captured on a home surveillance camera.

Around 4:30 a.m. on April 24, the woman was leaving her Hatfield Village apartment when she was attacked from behind. Ring camera video showed her being knocked down by a masked man, then punched and kicked repeatedly.

According to police, the woman was 15 weeks pregnant and told officers the only person she could think would want to hurt her would be the child's father, 36-year-old Raymond Bautista from Allentown. Authorities said the woman told them Bautista wanted her to take an emergency contraceptive. When she told him she planned to keep the baby, he told her he wouldn’t have anything to do with the child.

License plate readers and surveillance video showed Bautista’s car in the area around the time of the attack. A mask and clothes were found in his car that police said matched what the attacker was seen wearing in the video. According to court documents, he admitted to the beating.

Bautista is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault of an unborn child. He was released on $75,000 unsecured bail, prompting the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to file for an emergency bail review, after Magisterial District Judge Denise Ashe ignored their request for high cash bail based on the nature of the charges.
