PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 60-year-old Philadelphia man is charged with arson nearly two weeks after a fire at a mosque in Northeast Philly.
Federal prosecutors said Vincent Lang was arrested Thursday.
Authorities allege he went to the Northeast Philadelphia Islamic Center on Tyson and Loretto Avenues in the early hours of July 5.
Prosecutors said Lang lit an improvised incendiary device, and threw it into the entryway of the mosque, which sparked a fire inside the building.
Video shared by Philadelphia's Center for Islamic-American Relations last week showed a man lighting a bag on fire and throwing it inside.
A leader at the Islamic Center said a timely 9-1-1 call from a neighbor helped limit the damage to the porch. He also said no one was injured.
Lang faces between five and 20 years in prison if he's convicted.
