PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Phoenixville man was arrested earlier this week after police say he stabbed his 70-year-old father in Downingtown, then swam across a nearby lake to evade the cops.
Michael Blough, 43, has been charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.
On Monday, officials say Blough grabbed his father by the neck, threw him to the ground and stabbed him in the back. He also assaulted two others, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.
Police officers arrived at the 70-year-old’s house, but Blough did not stop despite their commands, they say. The cops Tasered him three times unsuccessfully.
Blough fled the house and swam across the lake at Marsh Creek State Park, authorities say. A crisis negotiation specialist talked to him for hours, saying he appeared to be in a mental health crisis.
He was eventually Tasered again and taken into custody. Investigators later discovered two knives at the scene.
The 70-year-old was treated at the hospital for his injuries.
Blough is being held at the county prison on $200,000 cash bail.
