PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating after a man was shot near Temple University early this morning.
It happened just before 1:30 a.m. 18th Street and Fontain Street, near Diamond Street according, to investigators.
Officers on scene found a 22-year-old man shot several times in the backyard. They took him to a nearby hospital where he is in critical condition.
Police say at least three shell casings were found on scene inside of a home and its backyard..
According to a statement from Temple University, the victim is not a student.
The university says even though none of their students or staff were affected, they should utilize the school’s safety resources, including a walking escort program and their TUSAFE app.
There is no word on any arrests or a motive at this time.
