PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man died Tuesday after he was struck by a SEPTA train in North Philadelphia.
Officials say the man fell onto the tracks as he was crossing between train cars around 3 p.m. at the Olney Transit Center on SEPTA's Broad Street Line. He died at the scene.
Shuttle buses were provided for riders, as SEPTA service was suspended between the Erie and Fern Rock stations for nearly three hours following the incident.
Officials have not identified the man.
This is the third time this month a person was fatally struck by a train in Pennsylvania.
On April 2, a person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train near Cornwell Heights Station on Wednesday. The next night, a 24-year-old man died by suicide and his brother and father were killed when all three were hit by an Amtrak Acela train in Bristol.
