Man dies after 40-foot fall at Weeknd concert at Linc, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police said a man died after falling 40 feet from an escalator last week while attending a concert in South Philly.

It happened Thursday night at the opener of pop star The Weeknd's "After Hours Til Dawn" tour at Lincoln Financial Field.

Investigators said a 32-year-old man fell, severely injuring his head. They believe the concert-goer was sitting on an escalator rail when he fell about 40 feet.

The man was rushed to a hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after midnight, from head trauma.

At this point, officials said the man's fall appeared to have been accidental.
