Man dies after early morning violent crash in West Mount Airy, police say

WEST MOUNT AIRY (KYW Newsradio) — A man was killed when his car plowed through the fence of a home in West Mount Airy early Sunday morning.

Philadelphia police said around 3:30 a.m., the 34-year-old man was driving on Pelham Road near Quincy Street when he suddenly lost control of his 2007 Dodge and hit a snowbank.

The car then plowed through the fence of a home on Pelham Road and came to a stop in its front yard.

Authorities said the man suffered a severe head injury in the crash and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit is still investigating the exact cause of the crash.
