PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Montgomery County are investigating after a 41-year-old man was found shot dead in a cemetery overnight.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and Cheltenham police said Brian Horter’s body was found in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Glenside shortly after midnight.

Police said they received calls about hearing a gunshot in the cemetery. There, officials said they found Horter’s body and a firearm nearby.

Horter had suffered a single gunshot wound and was taken to Abington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Last month, Bensalem police issued a warrant for Horter’s arrest, accusing him of conspiracy to commit identity theft in Bucks County.

Court records show Horter was already facing drug charges in Bucks County and has been in and out of prison since 2003.

In 2016, police seized an AK-47 from Horter’s property in Northeast Philadelphia. A pipe bomb was covertly stored with the firearm, and police unwittingly brought it into the police station. Horter pleaded guilty and was sentenced to federal prison in that case.
