PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was killed in a three-car crash on Kelly Drive Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Around 3:20 p.m., authorities said an Uber driver in a black Nissan Altima was traveling southbound with a passenger and attempted to make an illegal left turn onto Reservoir Drive.

As the Uber driver made the turn, it was struck by a white Nissan Rogue, causing the Altima to spin and crash into a BMW coming onto Kelly Drive.

Steven Tyree Moultrie, the 41-year-old passenger in the Altima, was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The 44-year-old Uber driver was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

“There are no words to describe this tragic loss and our hearts are with the rider’s loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time," an Uber spokesperson said. "Our dedicated team stands ready to support police in their investigation, and we have removed the driver’s access to our platform.”

Kelly Drive was closed in both directions for several hours.

Investigators say charges are pending against the Uber driver. Uber says it has taken the Altima driver off its platform.
