SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A man shot and killed his estranged wife Monday morning at the South Jersey nursing facility where she worked, then turned the gun on himself, investigators said.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, 35-year-old Brandon Alexander showed up at Excelcare rehabilitation facility in Egg Harbor Township around 6 a.m. as his estranged wife, 38-year-old Victoria Alexander, a nurse practitioner at the facility, was arriving for work.
Investigators said he blocked her car in, then got into her vehicle and left two suicide notes on the dashboard. A delivery driver asked him to move, and that’s when Victoria Alexander got out and ran into the building. Police said Brandon Alexander followed her in and shot her multiple times, then shot himself.
Victoria Alexander was pronounced dead on Monday. Brandon Alexander was initially listed in critical condition but died early Tuesday morning.
Atlantic County prosecutor Bill Reynolds said this was a tragic and deliberate act of domestic violence, and domestic violence and mental health issues threaten families and public safety. He noted there are resources available to help those in crisis.
