Man gets life sentence for killing, dismembering woman

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A man convicted of murder in the death of a woman whose dismembered and burned remains were found at a South Jersey farm has been sentenced to life in prison.

Accoring to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, 57-year-old Dennis Parrish was declared ineligible for parole on Friday for more than 63 years. Parrish was convicted in August of first-degree murder in the July 2018 death of 32-year-old Tonya Cook.

Authorities say Parrish killed Cook at his home before dismembering her body and setting her remains on fire in a field in Lawrence Township.

At trial, the defense argued that someone else murdered the victim.
