PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is clinging to life after he was shot in the Bella Vista neighborhood Thursday night.

Authorities said the 26-year-old was wearing Meta glasses, and investigators are trying to determine whether they were recording at the time of the shooting. Around 10:30 p.m., officers in the area of 12th and Bainbridge streets heard gunshots and responded to nearby Kater Street, where they found an unconscious man who had been shot in the head.

“Just underneath that male victim was a glock firearm along with the victim’s glasses, which were the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, possibly [recording]. We’re not sure we’re still investigating that portion of it,” said police Capt. Timothy Stephan.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he is in “extremely critical” condition.

Down the block, police found a car struck by at least four bullets.

“One of those rounds did end up going through the driver’s seat, and luckily nobody inside that vehicle was struck,” Stephan said.

No one was near the car when officers arrived, but a gun was recovered. Investigators said the victim and at least one other person exchanged gunfire. A motive is not yet known.
