PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say a man was shot and killed in East Germantown while he was withdrawing money from an ATM at a bank Thursday night.
It happened around 8:15 p.m. at the Citizens Bank vestibule located at Germantown and Chelten avenues.
“We know that this 69-year-old male just retrieved money from the ATM machine when he was approached by two males,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “And for some reason, they fired two shots, striking [him].”
The man was shot in the abdomen and chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as James Watson, who lived about a mile and a half away from the bank.
Police say they found a wad of cash near him, but no weapons.
