PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities in Montgomery County have identified the man accused of shooting another man and leaving him to die on City Avenue Sunday night.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office has issued an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Tyreese Quinerley.

Lower Merion police responded to a 911 call around 11 p.m. and found a wounded man on the sidewalk, near the intersection of City and Cardinal avenues, across from Saint Joseph’s University residence halls.

Based on preliminary information, police initially believed the victim was shot at 57th Street and Lansdowne Avenue in Overbrook, then transferred to that City Avenue intersection, but investigators now say that was not the case.

According to a criminal complaint, Quinerley called 911 to report a body on the side of the road. When police arrived, Quinerley told them that he almost hit the victim with his van. The officers took Quinerley's information and allowed him to leave.

But the victim, later identified as 39-year-old Jefferson Shakford, wasn't just hurt. He had been shot.

Shakford was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Investigators found surveillance video that shows Quinerley pulling Shakford's body out of the passenger side of his van and dumping it on the side of City Avenue.

A witness also told police that she saw a driver get out of a green van, walk around and shoot the passenger. Additionally, detectives found Shakford's phone at a construction site at the intersection, and phone records show
several calls between Shakford and Quinerley.

Authorities say Quinerley is armed and dangerous. He was last seen in a green Chevrolet Express van with the Pennsylvania plate MCR4673. Anyone who sees him should call 911.

Anyone with additional information about the shooting is asked to contact Montgomery County Detectives at 610-226-5553 or Lower Merion Township Police at 610-649-1000 or 610-645-6228.
