PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was shot while waiting for an Uber Eats delivery in South Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.
Police say it happened around 1:30 a.m., as the 31-year-old man stepped outside of a recording studio near Jackson and Water streets, where he works as an engineer.
He expected to find the delivery person, but instead, police say the man saw five men in masks coming toward him, so he started running.
“While he ran, that’s when he heard multiple shots and realized he was shot in the leg,” Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10. “He continued to run two blocks, where he ran into the Wawa.”
From the Wawa on Christopher Columbus Boulevard, he called for help. Police found him there and took him to the hospital. The victim is expected to be physically OK.
Police have not made any arrests.
