PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A former Philadelphia security guard has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for fatally punching a man outside a gay club four years ago.

Kenneth Frye, 27, was acquitted of the more serious charge, third-degree murder, for punching Eric Pope outside Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar, near the corner of South 12th and Manning streets in the Gayborhood on April 16, 2022.

Authorities said Pope had been kicked out of the bar and got into a tussle with Frye, who was working as a bouncer that night. They said Frye punched Pope, who died a few days later.

The trial lasted a few hours with a handful of witnesses and video of the incident shown to jurors.

Frye is set to be sentenced in July.
