PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A New Jersey school employee was struck and killed by a school bus Tuesday afternoon.
Police confirmed to KYW the accident happened just before 3:45 p.m. in the bus garage next to Maple Shade High School along Frederick Avenue.
"We know this loss will be felt throughout the community," said Maple Shade School District Superintendent Beth Norcia in a letter to parents and staff.
"As we all grieve as a school family, school will be cancelled tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, for students. This will allow our school community to process this loss and support one another. We understand that such news can be profoundly upsetting and we are committed to providing the support needed during this time."
Officials have not released the victim's identity.
"We ask our students and staff to look after one another as we deal with the loss of our coworker and friend," said Norcia.
The Burlington County Crisis Response Team and counselors will be available for staff and students for the rest of the week, according to the superintendent.
