PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Most of us take it for granted. If we get a small cut or minor infection, our bodies more or less take over and within days or weeks and the problem goes away.

If things are more serious, we might have a surgical procedure and the body heals as we recover. But, for people who have problems with blood supply, this does not always happen and wounds can become chronic.

If you notice that your wounds are not healing like they used to or if you have a red or hot-to-touch area that is not improving, you need to have it checked out.

Two major reasons: you can find out why you are not healing and also take advantage of tools we have to help with healing.
