Medical Report: Thinking of dieting? The most important strategy is to start now, not later

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Some of the best diets are for people who have medical conditions: the diabetic diet, the cardiac diet … the list goes on.

Physicians are always suggesting diets when people are experiencing various medical conditions. However, no matter the condition, the major concepts are usually the same. The problem is that many people won’t turn to these diets until they have a problem.

Here are some strategies in those diet plans that you can start today:

—Cut back on saturated fats; choose whole grains
—Switch out starches for fruits and vegetables.
—When it comes to vegetables, try to get three to five servings per day.

It all makes sense — but what makes even more sense is starting early.
