PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Telemedicine emerged as a valuable tool during the COVID-19 pandemic when it was important to reduce the risk to patients and their caregivers by avoiding contact. It continues to play a large role in care.
What do patients think and how is it best used? A study conducted by researchers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York focused on more than 27,000 patients treated for cancer and found a high level of satisfaction as long as in-person visits were offered when necessary.
Researchers conclude there must be serious efforts to expand telemedicine use and ensure it is supported.
