PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — We spend more time in our homes than just about anywhere else, but are our home environments as safe as they should be?
Eating a healthy diet, exercising often, and reducing stress are all crucial ways for us to improve our health, but there is one thing many of us overlook: the importance of the environment where we live. This is even more important as many people continue to work from home.
There are some basic things you should do to boost your home safety. If your home was built before 1978, have an inspector come in to look for lead paint. Don’t let people smoke cigarettes in your home. You should have your furnace and gas appliances checked. And be certain you look for and fix water leaks — you don’t want to encourage mold to grow.
In health care, there is nothing more valuable than prevention, and these preventive steps can help you avoid potentially serious health issues.
