PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — COVID-19 and the flu are spreading throughout the community. Here are some things everyone should be aware of to avoid the worst.
If you get COVID-19 or the flu, there are medications that can help if taken soon after initial exposure. However, what you do before exposure has a greater impact than what you do afterward. Vaccines are not a guarantee against getting the flu or COVID, but they do dramatically reduce the severity of symptoms.
There are also some household items that will come in handy. One obvious item is a thermometer to monitor body temperature. You might consider a water bottle to help with hydration. And you should have a supply of KN95 masks in the house.
If you’re at home battling the flu or COVID, you might be tempted to pass the hours by binge-watching TV, but don’t do it at the expense of sleep. Your body needs a lot of rest to help with recovery.
